Il 13 aprile a Londra è stato inaugurato il White Garden in onore della principessa Diana Spencer. Quest'anno, infatti, ricorrono i 20 anni dalla morte di Lady D e a Kensington, la residenza ufficiale dei duchi di Cambridge Kate Middleton e il principe William, il giardino è stato allestito per ricordarla. Questa stessa fu la residenza di Diana e del principe Carlo per circa 15 anni.

I giardinieri, come dichiarato in un comunicato, per realizzarlo ci hanno impiegato un anno e si sono ispirati ai vari vestiti che Diana indossava, oltreché ai suoi fiori preferiti. Erano i nontiscordardime, le giunchiglie, i tulipani e i giacinti.

Il White Garden è il riallestimento del Sunken Garden, un giardino "nascosto" accanto al palazzo, che è esploso in una fioritura speciale grazie ai 12 mila bulbi piantati lo scorso autunno.

Sean Harkin, il capo-giardiniere, ha detto in proposito: «Volevo creare qualcosa che fosse molto semplice ed elegante e ho usato gli abiti esposti nella mostra dedicata per prendere ispirazione: il bianco rende tutto scintillante e luminoso ed è uno dei temi principali»

Poi ha continuato: «Oltre a utilizzare i vestiti come ispirazione abbiamo fatto qualche ricerca in fiori preferiti della principessa Diana e per comunicare un senso di gioia abbiamo aggiunto altri colori nei toni del pastello».
