La nail artist Jin Soon Choi ha detto «Questa è una tecnica che ho cominciato a utilizzare quando era giovane. Ero piccola e con le mie amiche non applicavo lo smalto su tutta l'unghia ma facevo solo una striscia al centro per darle un aspetto più allungato».
Per creare questa manicure tutto quello che devi fare è passare una mano di base coat, poi una mano leggera dello smalto che vuoi e una linea più scura al centro. Con questo sistema dai un effetto sagomato ed è lo stesso principio del contouring che usi per evidenziare alcune zone del viso.
Jin Soon Choi ha realizzato questa manicure per la sfilata di Vera Wang alla New York Fashion Week, dove ha dipinto le unghie delle sue modelle con una patina messa come sfondo, ha applicato uno strato rosa-bianco o scuro in una riga e così ha attirato l'attenzione verso il centro. Per completare il look ha utilizzato una finitura semi opaca.
